Tag: The Colours of the Rainbow

Thank you to the lovely Gianna of Makeup & me for this fun tag!  The timing was perfect.  I was just in the mood to do one of these :)

Now the way this one works is you have to name one favourite beauty product in your collection representing each colour of the rainbow.  One of each of the following:
  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Indigo
  • Violet
To make it a little easier it can be the colour of the product OR the colour of the packaging.  Here are my picks (I didn't want to make it too easy for myself so I've only chosen one nail polish):

Red
Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick (Temptation)
I've done a few posts on this lipstick already and I've nominated it as my favourite red lipstick in The Lipstick Tag post last year.  It's very pigmented,  long wearing and super affordable at around $10AUD.  The Lasting Finish lipsticks are seemingly never-ending too because even after several wears the lipstick has barely worn down.  Click here for a Temptation swatch.

Orange
BYS Blusher (Coral)
You'll probably know by now that I've been a bit crazy about all things orange lately, particularly when it comes to nail polish.  However, that would have been too obvious a choice!  Instead I've nominated this modest little blush from budget brand BYS as my favourite orange beauty product.  Coral is a deeply pigmented warm coral shade with a subtly glowy finish.  For a very inexpensive product (around $4AUD) this feels silky smooth to the touch and glides on.  Because it's so pigmented and I'm usually pretty pale I need to be very light-handed in application but it's a great shade for summer skin.

Yellow
Red Earth Brilliant Pearl Eyeshadow (Golden Kiss)
Yellow is the makeup shade which terrifies me the most.  I just don't do yellow eyeshadow or nail polish because I think it makes me look sickly and jaundiced.  I do like yellow gold though and I've always got a gold eyeshadow on hand to use as an inner eye highlight.  I've chosen Golden Kiss as my favourite because it's the most yellow-toned gold in my collection.   A light swipe of this soft silky shadow onto the inner eye gives evening eyes a subtle lift.

Green
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Junkie)
My hubs bought this for me as part of a travel-sized gift set last year.  Junkie is teal with a silvery sparkle which does literally glide onto the eyes with no tugging whatsoever and then sets until I'm ready to remove it.  I've road-tested this pencil on my eyes this Australian summer and it lasted the day without running or fading.  For an EOTD click here.

Blue
L'Oreal Chrome Intensity Eyeshadow (182 Blue Jean)
This eyeshadow was a lucky discount bin find and is my favourite blue item because it's just the most amazing shade of blue in the pan and intensely pigmented on the skin too.  I've worn this as an inky blue eyeliner for a daytime look and went all out wearing it on my lids last New Year's Eve (See here).

Indigo
OPI INK
Okay, I had to allow myself one nail polish shade and OPI Ink represents the perfect Indigo blue to me.  I adore just looking at the shimmer in the bottle - Now why haven't I swatched it yet?!?

Violet
Inglot Freedom System palette
I quietly went and bought myself one of these last year to see what all the fuss was about and I pretty much love it because I was able to hand select 4 complimentary shades to do my favourite eye look - purple!  These shadows are buttery soft and glide onto the skin, and the colour payoff is also excellent.   My one gripe:  because these shadows are so soft they can easily crumble and break as you can see in the picture above.  This was caused dropping the palette onto my tiled bathroom floor - aarrrgh!

Thanks for reading.  Consider yourself tagged!
