Delicious beauty: What's your flavour?

A little while ago I was musing to anyone in the world (well the Twitterverse at least) about how I tend to reapply delicious, edible scented lip glosses more often than others, just because of the sheer sensory enjoyment.  It occurred to me that I do have a bit of a 'thing' for anything that smells edible particularly if it smells of vanilla, coconut or berries!

Just for fun I'm posting an inventory of my gourmand beauty products, sorted by 'flavour'.  If you're a yummy beauty fan like me then just enjoy, if not then indulge me this once.  I am a Taurean after all...

Vanilla
  • The Body Shop Vanilla Perfume Oil - This has a very edible, warm vanilla fragrance.  Pure love in a bottle for me and I don't need to say any more than that...
  • MAC lipstick - I don't just love MAC lippies for the wonderful array of colours and finishes but also their soft, subtle vanilla scent.
  • Bloom Lip Gloss - Beautifully shiny, lovely colours and they moisturise my lips.  Of course the best part as far as I'm concerned is the Vanilla and Mandarin essential oil scent!
  • Softlips Vanilla - This vanilla bean scented balm moisturises lips and protects them from sun damage as it contains SPF 20.
Cocoa
  • The Body Shop Chocomania Range - These products all smell sooo ridiculously chocolatey they come with a 'Do Not Eat' warning on the bottom of the packaging!  I have the Body Scrub and Body Lotion from this range.
  • Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Body Gloss - I have a lot of Palmer's products and the cocoa scent is definitely there but not too overpowering.  I use the Body Gloss for an after dark shimmery sheen on bare summer legs and arms.
Coconut
  • Heavy Rotation Enamel Gloss (Berry) - I've blogged about this Japanese lip gloss many times. Whenever I decide to use it I end up reapplying many times, mainly because of the scrummy and summery coconut scent as well as its buttery smooth texture on the lips.
  • Reniu Virgin Coconut Body Oil - This is the last item I have left of a set gifted to me from a friend returning from Fiji. The natural coconut scent is summer in a bottle.

Berries & Cherries
  • Maybelline Baby Lips Anti-Oxidant Balm (Berry) - I have a few different flavours in my stash but Berry is my favourite.
  • Yes to Carrots C Me Smile Lip Butter (Berry) - This 95% organic balm lives on my bedside table for overnight lip moisturising.
  • Essence Glossy Lip Balm (Sparkling Cherry) - I wish these weren't discontinued.  I bought the whole range when they were released and Cherry is my current flavour of choice for a subtle tinted shine on my lips.

Candy
  • MOR Marshmallow Perfume Oil and Hand Cream - Sweet without being too cloying, I'd describe the scent as more like musk flavoured candy.  Deliciously addictive to me!
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks - I have a whole load of these because they are so highly pigmented and long wearing for a drugstore product.  They also have a subtle bubblegum scent, although it fades fairly quickly after application.

Do you have a favourite beauty flavour?
I'd love to see your delicious beauty inventory!

Until next time

Vita :)

  1. I love this post! I too am a huge fan of flavours and scents with my beauty products! I love berries too, but I am a real fan of anything sugary sweet like the Lush Bubblegum lip scrub.

    1. So glad you liked it Candice! The bubblegum scented lip scrub sounds interesting - reminds me of a bubblegum flavoured lipgloss I used to have from Bonnebell yesrs ago. Ah the memories, lol :)

  2. I love sweet foody scents! Candy, Vanilla, Coconut! YUM! I have this body lotion at the moment that is Pineapple Vanilla. Seriously, I have to hold myself back from eating it!

    1. WOW, pineapple vanilla sounds extremely edible! You'll have to share where you got that from Kaz :)

  3. Great post, I think I have one of each thing from all your food groups! LOL. I love MOR Marshmallow products:) I have the Pure Fiji (like Renui) Coconut body stuff that is coconut smelling and divine!

    1. Coconut is definitely one of my faves even though it looks a bit underrepresented in my post. I love that summery smell. It literally reminds me of past island holidays so I instantly feel so good just from the association! :)

  4. Hi Vita,
my favorite scents are almonds, vanilla and strawberry. The body shop has a good range of scents and I love buying from them. And oh, I also love their range of satsuma :)

    1. The Body Shop always has such deliciously scented stuff! Time for another trip to overload my senses I think - although my bathroom is overflowing at the moment lol!

  5. Actually, while I do like sweeter scents and perfumes, I absolutely do not like sweetly scented cosmetics! At least, nothing that's sposed to go on my face. I can tolerate vanilla smells like MAC or Revlon's lip glosses, and some other scents (Dior's Rouge Diors have a faint scent that I find vaguely pleasant), but otherwise, I'd just as rather the lipstick or whatever be unscented.

    1. I don't think I could handle too sweet skincare on my face and nothing too overpowering near my nose (ie on my lips) either - although obviously I do like a little something, haha!

  6. I don't think I've put much thought into what scents I tend to gravitate towards in makeup, but I like how you've grouped everything! I too like the subtle vanilla scent of MAC lipsticks and also the smell of YSL Rouge Voluptes!

    1. Another reason for me to buy a Rouge Volupte as my next lipstick :) I'm nearly there now - down to my last lipstick stub then I'm headed to the nearest YSL counter to buy my tube of Forbidden Burgundy! xo

  7. I've become really picky about scented products although I'm not snobby enough to abstain from some Body Shop and Bath & Body products. :) I can't stand candy fruity smells on lips though vanilla is okay. And I was supposed to review The Body Shop Chocolate series for Valentine's Day but couldn't stand the smell - to me it didn't seem chocolatey enough! I like your post though and it's a great idea to group scents together!

    1. Bath & Body intrigues me simply because it's not readily sold down here - basically I want to try anything I can't get easily! Vanilla is right up there for me too :) xo

  8. Haha great post!! I love cocoa butter lotions because I love the smell, but it makes me hungry. I almost need lipgloss/lipstick to be scented/flavored because the unscented once are a little unsettling. I love anything vanilla or coconut scented/flavored most!

    1. So many lipsticks are unscented these days! I remember when Revlon lipsticks had a pretty, almost perfumey scent but alas now they're unscented too. Ah well...

  9. I quite like the taste/scent of the Tarte lip surgence pencils - slightly minty and something else. I love the scent of cucumber for body products as it's so refreshing.

    1. I forgot about minty scented things! I quite like the Burt's Bees tinted lip shimmers and they feel cooling on the lips. xo

  10. I'd have to say vanilla is my favourite fragrance too Claire because it is so delicious :) I tolerate fragranced products well generally but I don't think I could handle heavily fragranced facial skincare aside from lip balm.
