BYS Glitter Dust for Nails: Moonlight Magic

Okay - now for one of the most impractically fun things I've tried on my nails!  Let me tell you the emphasis is on the FUN here!

BYS have launched a new range of Glitter Dust nail kits.  These are not your traditional glitter nail polish, rather these are glitter dipped manicures.  To explain: You paint your nail, dip and roll your nail in a pot of glitter dust while it's still wet, wait a few minutes then brush away the excess.  Each kit contains a bottle of coloured polish, glitter dust in a matching shade and a soft brush for wiping away glitter fallout.  I was lucky enough to receive two of these kits to review and I found the process to be very easy - much less fiddly than the magnetic polishes - and not too messy if you place a sheet of paper where you work to catch any glitter fallout.  This one's for the less artistically inclined polish lovers like me - and for all lovers of glitter of course!

The first shade I'm posting is Moonlight Magic - a vibrant (almost cobalt) blue and it is breathtaking! I can't help it - I'm going to rave about this shade.  I swear, if Dorothy wore sapphire instead of ruby slippers on her feet when she journeyed to Oz this is just what they'd look like! I was in loooooveee.  Now to share some of the looooooveeee *swoon*....

Oops, in all my excitement I forgot to take a picture of the kit so here is an image from the Fashion Addict website:

There are 10 kits in the range and they are available for $7.95AUD each.

I'm very seriously considering buying a few more myself!

  1. Wow, I'm not much into nail art as such but I'm thinking I'm going to have to give these a go; that colour is absolutely amazing on your nails!

  2. Whoa this colour is a stunner! I will definitely have to pick this up! I've seen it on a few other blogs in different colours and loved them, but this colour is something else!

  3. I love this! Didn't think I would but it's really effective! How's the wear? Are you constantly dropping glitter??

    1. It certainly is an interesting finish! Your mani will shed a little bit of glitter until it's completely but once it dries the glitter is pretty set and doesn't go anywhere. I've also just read the comment below suggesting an application of hairspray will help set the glitter faster :)

  4. This looks so pretty! I'm wondering though is the finish really rough? Do your nails catch on things like clothing etc.? Also, did you put a top coat over the glitter? xx

    1. Hey Angie, nope you don't put on top coat because it'll "kill" the intensity. It's not rough, more like soft glitter actually and you can set it with hairspray. :)

    2. That hairspray hint is a good one - must try it! No, I didn't use a top coat Angie. I did find my nails did catch a little on some things so I wouldn't recommend you wearing stockings with this mani, lol!

  6. I cannot wait to get my hands on these- totally impractical and will drive me nuts, but I'd put it on right before an event and rock it for a few hours :)

    1. That's THE perfect way to wear these! I did wear a quieter shade for a few days though and it's remarkably durable. It's like rendering on the outside of the house!

  7. I'm in love with this too! I've got the pink one and it is DIVINE! Oh and a tip I just learnt to help the glitter last longer on your nails is to spray with hairspray. Yep.

  8. That is stunning! I can't see myself wearing it for more than a few hours, maybe, but it's really fun to look at it!

    1. It's a great party mani isn't it! I think that would be the occasion to wear something like this. There's a fantastic black holo glitter version I've also got my eye on and I think it would be THE perfect party mani!!

  9. What a pretty blue this is, Vita, and fits your gorgeous hands perfectly!

I'm lusting after this (and your photos haven't helped at all, now I want it EVEN more), and also the white shade!

    1. You won't regret getting the blue. I seriously fell in love the first time I saw this manicure sparkling in the sun! The white shade is more subtle, a little icy looking - it will be the star of my next post :)

I seriously need to hop on line for more - I have 2 or 3 shades on my lust list!

  10. You know, I would LOVE this on a pair of high heeled pumps. I'm not a big fan of textured nails but the blue is stunning and the sparkles are so pretty!

    1. Wouldn't it be magic to have a pair of shoes like that! I could totally see this too and that's why I kept thinking of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz when I wore this manicure :) xo
