Sally Hansen: White On

Hello?!...Don't I know you from somewhere? Weren't you somebody that I used to know??...

Seriously, I think things are settling down on the home and back to school front so I'm hoping to be popping up here on a more regular basis this month.  Now let me think - I have 6 sets of mani pictures to post, 3 other general beauty posts, plus 1 tag up my sleeve - there's no lack of content for me to get through in the near future so let's get on with this one shall we?

White nail polish isn't something I'd normally go for and in all honesty I used this polish as the base for a subsequent nail art experiment, but it's worth letting you know about a good solidly opaque white nail polish so here it is. I know some people may be on the hunt for that perfect "white out" white right?  White On is exactly that - an opaque white cream polish and 2 coats gave me that white paper background I was looking for.  One possible drawback is that although the finish is perfectly opaque it wasn't perfectly smooth and even and you may be able to see that here.  A topcoat would take care of that although I decided to forgo it because I was using White On as a base for other, slightly crazier things...

All pictures taken in indirect daylight

I do find white polish a bit unforgiving as every little uneven edge will show up glaringly like on my pinky nail here - but on the plus side it does make for instantly tanned hands!

Do you ever do white nails?

  1. I recently grabbed this polish when it was on sale, and I LOVE it. I never thought I would be a white polish kind of person, but it has sucked me in and I adore the clean, crisp look it gives. x

    1. Perfect for summer isn't it and such great coverage! I use it as a base for neons too to bring out their vibrant colour :)

  2. I don't think I've ever worn a bright white polish. I don't think I could pull it off with my short nails.

    1. As long as your nails are neat I'm sure you could get away with it. Cream is a lovely, less stark alternative too!

  3. I keep an old white Sally Hansen around, in case I ever want to do white or use it for nail art or whatever. But I tend to stay away from pure white and pure black! Your polish job is immaculate. :)

  4. I think I need to add a nice white polish into my stash, as you say for nail art and the like.

    1. It's handy to have a bottle stashed away for little experiments. Especially if you have neons - then the white acts as an excellent base!

  5. I certainly do, and White On is a favourite of mine simply because it adds instant class to your hands and also, it's perfect for a nail art base!

It looks gorgeous on you, babe, I see no streaks at all!

  6. I love white polish, actually! It's such a show stopper :) I do find them hard to work with, though. My white polish is from Zoya, but I actually was thinking about Chanel Eastern Light if it comes back here... ;)

    1. I enjoyed wearing it - although I didn't leave it unadorned for long! White is such a crisp colour. I'm sure I'll wear it again :)

  7. I'm so unsure about white as well. I feel like I'm wearing white out. Or as we called it in school liquid paper.
