It looks like I colour coordinated my empties this month because there's definitely a blue, green and purple thing going on but it's just one of those weird coincidences! Here are the latest 11 to add to the growing pile...
Skin care
45) Yes to Blueberries Age Refresh Smoothing Daily Cleanser (4.5oz/127g)
This was a really nice gentle cleanser for my morning in-shower facial cleanse. It's creamy, with that sweet blueberry scent I became accustomed to and ended up actually liking! I also liked how quickly and easily it rinsed off leaving my skin feeling clean and soft with no tightness. This was so much better than Yes to Cucumbers slippery and hard to rinse off gel cleanser. Would I repurchase? Yes.
46) Yes to Blueberries Age Refresh Intensive Skin Repair Serum (1 fl oz/30 ml)
Two out of three Blueberries products decided to run out at the same time! This serum doesn't have the luxurious feel of the high end products but it was a reasonable, competent product. While it did feel a little on the slippery gooey side at first, it absorbed quickly and did make my skin feel smooth. The scent of this is more tart than the rest of the Blueberries range probably due to apple in the formula so it was a bit off-putting to me. I probably wouldn't buy this again. Click here for my original thoughts.
47) Olay Wet Cleansing Cloths - Sensitive (30 wipes)
Now these weren't too bad. The cloths were a decent, large size and were quite wet so one wipe was easily enough to cleanse my entire face at the end of the day. As they're alcohol free the wipes weren't drying on my skin and I could comfortably get by without needing my nightly moisturiser - bonus for really lazy nights! What I didn't like? The weird plasticky (?) scent was a bit unpleasant, and the opening has a basic resealable sticker so the wipes have the potential to dry out more easily. Pretty good overall though so I'd still recommend them as a no-frills product.

Hand and body care
48) Palmer's Olive Butter Formula Concentrated Cream (30g/1.1 oz. travel size)
I've used this rich yet easily absorbed cream before and wouldn't hesitate to repurchase because I just love it! It really is fabulous for treating all extra dry parts of the body and I've been applying it to my elbows, feet and hands as an overnight treatment. I love the fresh scent too!
49) Nivea Radiantly Smooth Body Scrub (150ml)
It's OK but I didn't love it. I liked the fresh scent but was a bit underwhelmed by the exfoliating properties. I've used other products which have left my skin feeling smoother than this. I'm still looking for my HG body exfoliant it seems...
50) Avon Foot Works Cracked Heel Relief Cream (150g jumbo size tube)
I've had this tube for over a year! It's not because I didn't use it but because a little product goes a long way. This product is self explanatory and I apply it to my heels to prevent them from becoming ashy and cracked. This is my must have sandal-ready product. Yes, I have repurchased already.
51) Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (500ml)
Just over a month ago I was diagnosed with hyper-sensitive skin so the doctor told me to replace my usual bar of Dove soap with this wash. Soap free and fragrance free makes it a bit boring for me to use but the pH balanced formula has settled down my cold weather itches nicely, by not stripping and drying my skin. I have repurchased this and will continue to use it through winter.
52) OPI Polish Remover (non-oily, moisturizing formula 120ml - 4fl.oz)
I'm just keeping a running tally on these bottles. This is my fifth bottle finished for the year.
53) OPI Drip Dry (9ml/0.3fl.oz)
My second bottle for the year. The formula contains jojoba and Vitamin E a few drops speed dry my manicure and moisturise my cuticles at the same time. I've recently been using Sally Hansen's version but I find the Sally Hansen formula to be overly oily compared to the OPI product. I'll be switching back to this.

Cosmetics
54) Lancome Virtuose Mascara (black - sample size tube)
I'm a bit of a fan of Lancome mascaras but I was a bit meh about this one. The good: it defines my lashes, gives them a lasting curl, doesn't flake or smudge and removes easily when I want to remove it. The not so good: It seems to take 20 coats (slight exaggeration, it was more like 18) to build up any kind of thickness! Good for everyday but not so good if you're after oomph and fat lashes! I personally wouldn't rush to pay around $50AUD for this one.
55) L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick (Plum Brulee)
This was the third lipstick done and finished in my lipstick ban. I love the creamy texture and intense pigmentation of these drugstore lippies. I would easily repurchase this vampy plum but it's been discontinued.
How's your empties tally going?
Until next time.
Vita :)
You are great at finishing lipsticks, I am very impressed! I tend to save up my favourites so that I have them forever, a pretty silly idea when you think about it. The Yes to Blueberries cleanser sounds really nice, I might check it out when my bazillion cleansers are gone ;P
ReplyDeleteI used to save special lipsticks too but I've since learned it's not such a great idea because they go off eventually :( So you have a backlog of cleansers? I've got a backlog of moisturisers so we're even then, haha!
DeleteI'm mesmerised that you get through so many products! It takes me AGES to get through mine (excluding shampoo & conditioner, bodywash, and my rosehip oil) but I hardly ever use anything else. . woops?!
ReplyDeleteLove the post and I love to see what you use :)
Thank you! It's the things I use daily like skincare that are always the first to go. I don't rotate my skin care and tend to stick to one product, use it up and then move onto something else :)
DeleteThe day I finish a lipstick I think I'll throw myself a party. I'm finally getting close with MAC I Love Winter but I swear it's regrowing in the night :P
ReplyDeleteC'mon Jerry - I know you can do it! Just keep chanting, "Back 2 MAC! Back 2 MAC!" and you'll get there. Yes, you deserve to do a post on the first lipstick you finish too!!
DeleteHoly smokes, you are the queen of finishing lipsticks. I'm with Jerry up there - the day I finish a lipstick, there will be fireworks and cake.
ReplyDeleteWell that will be cause for a celebration AND a commemoration :) Do it!!!
DeleteYou've got quite a few products there, great work with your empties! My pile, is look really sad lol. And with lipstick - it feels almost impossible to finish!
ReplyDeleteThanks Stacey :) Lipsticks can be difficult to finish - especially if you have an extensive collection! Then of course, there's always something else new to tempt us into buying more, making it even more difficult!!
DeleteI'm seeing some of my old faves here. I used to love those Olay wet wipes and the scent never bothered me. Cetaphil's always good to have and now I'm rather a fan of the OPI polish remover. Good job, my dear!
ReplyDeleteI probably underplayed my thoughts on the Cetaphil because it's literally saved me from itchy misery this winter - probably worthy of its own post!
DeleteLove these posts! After seeing yours I started doing my own, and it's been a hit with a lot of my readers. So thanks. And my tally is going well. I'm moving next month so I've been trying to use up more stuff so I don't have to move it/toss it. And I love Cetaphil products. I have oily/acne skin so I use some heavy duty stuff to try and stay clear, so Cetaphil is a nice gentle cleanser and moisturizer that I can use that isn't mean to my skin.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kaki! I love reading everyone else's empties posts too because I find it interesting to see what others love, like and just plain hate :)
