Inglot O2M Breathable Nail Enamel: 694

Being the purple-holic that I am once I saw this Inglot polish there was no question and I bought it on the spot!  694 you were always going to be coming home with me...

694 is a very deep yet vivid shimmery violet and almost blue - very regal looking and very much a winter colour too.  I've never used Inglot nail polish before so I've done a little bit of research and discovered the O2M formula is literally breathable as it allows water and oxygen to pass through (as long as you don't wear base or top coat from another brand of course) apparently to keep your nails in tip top condition.  The formula is also 5 Free and doesn't contain toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or camphor. So as for the application?  The brush is very thin but because the formula isn't too watery I didn't have any issues and this is a standard two-coater.

Essie: No More Film

Hey I'm back blogging again after some desperately needed rest and recuperation!  I think I've just avoided entering into Guinness World Records for the longest lived head cold because it's finally over...

 

Let's get into a wintry manicure then! I usually default to aubergine or oxblood for a classic vampy winter manicure but this year I've also been zeroing in on deep dark indigo blue because it's another twist on the classic vamp.  Essie describes No More Film as a "seductive deep violet" and this polish has very strong blue undertones.  Application was trouble-free and I'm liking this colour option very much on my newly shortened nails.

Borghese Rapido Fast Dry Nail Lacquer: Violetto

I've got a few more OPI Germany swatches ready to post but I thought up break it up with a random swatch from a brand I'm not really familiar with - Borghese.

I spotted bottles of Borghese Rapido polish on sale at the discount beauty stall in the concourse at Southern Cross station in Melbourne, which I pass every day on my way to and from work (dangerous)!  Violetto was the most interesting colour to try out and for 4 or 5 bucks why not?  This is a very cool toned silvery violet metallic polish which was a little finicky to apply.  After 2 coats I could still see some sheer patches so I applied 3, and on some nails 4(!), coats to get a fully opaque coverage.  Good news is it lived up to its Rapido name and dried quickly enough, so when I applied it before bed I didn't wake up to the dreaded sheet imprints!  Also, it wasn't horribly streaky as I'd feared it could have been.

I was a bit afraid that this shade would be unflattering but I think I carried it off.  It's an interesting shade of purple but I'm just about ready to start trying more spring appropriate colours as the sun starts to reappear...

Revlon - Wild About Violet

We're having the last little heatwave in the middle of Autumn so I'm still drawn to bright and shimmery nails.

Today's NOTD is one of my old LE Revlon polishes.  I remember buying Wild About Violet at Cosmetics Plus at a 3 for $10 sale a few years ago and it's been sitting untried until now when I went digging around for another duochrome to wear.  This is a pretty mid-tone pink with a subtle sparkly violet/blue shift. Wild About Violet isn't as striking as the purple Lucky Star but it still has enough of a colour shift to lift it from being a standard shimmery polish. Revlon polishes are usually two-coaters but I needed to apply a third to be rid of the dreaded VNL for my pictures.

This polish just loves bright sunlight!
