I chose to wear the most vivid pastel shade in the range first. Pastelchio is described as pastel lime green chartreuse and it certainly hovers closely to the border of neon. The polish was every bit as opaque on the nail as promised by my original tape swatch - as a matter of fact it was a little on the thick side compared to other polishes so it required a bit of extra care on application with the rather large flat brush (I have since tried another polish from the collection and the formula was more fluid and easier to work with). I applied two coats of colour and prior to top coat it dried to a semi-matte vinyl finish. Lime Crime recommends top coat applied over their polish for best results - which is what I do in most of my swatches - and this brings out the vivid colour to best effect and of course adds the glossy finish.
I didn't really expect to love this colour as much as I did. I was going to wear it for only a day and kept it on for three! As you can see in the pictures there's no shying away from this particular type of pastel!

Looks great
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill! :)
DeleteWow! I love this shade. So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great! And I'm a bit afraid of green too, LOL!
DeleteTotally treads the line of neon and pastel, and does it well! Love the cute name of this, and think it looks very striking on your nails.
ReplyDeleteThanks Emma! I think I've been converted to loving bright green with this polish :)
DeleteI'm surprised at how much I love this colour.
ReplyDeleteIt totally surprised me! At first I thought, "Okayyy....interesting..." but wearing it won me over cos it's actually flattering!
DeleteI love this color, I'm so happy to own it :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a great green - I can imagine you'd get lots of use for your nail art because it's so opaque :)
DeleteSo neon! And yet so pastel. I really like the shade - helps that it's green, too :D
ReplyDeleteIt's a crazy kind of colour but, yeah, I love it too. It certainly covers a few categories - probably because it's neon with a white base in the pigment!
DeleteInteresting, I've never seen that kind of combination between pastel and neon :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you can see it too! The other shades are more true pastels so this is the unusual shade of the lot :)
DeleteIt reminds me of apple gelato (but a touch more neon)! The name really cracks me up - clever ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree it's a great name - so perfect!
DeleteOMG!! Green is my favourite colour and this polish is something I just HAVE TO HAVE! So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIf you love green then yes you MUST own this! :))
Deletethis is definitely an intense color! I was thinking on the nail it may be a little more pastel, but it stays pretty damn bright! Lovely color. Did you have any trouble with staining? When using this color it dyed the end of my top coat brush and when using it with other polishes for some designs it ran everywhere. Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem.
ReplyDeleteYeah - it turned my nails a sickly fluoro green which I had to scrub off! I can't remember if it dissolved under the top coat although I remember the top coat definitely made the shade appear brighter on the nails :p
DeleteYou are brave, my lady. I'm scared to death of these shades!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I would be so brave but, yeah, I kept this on for three whole days - and dared to go out of the house too, LOL!
DeleteLooks really good. And did you like it in the end?
ReplyDeleteOh no so it stained your nails?
I did like it in the end - I absolutely loved the colour but it does stain so be warned!
