Project 10 Pan update: finally hitting pan!

I thought I'd give you a quick update on how I'm progressing with P10P.

After feeling a little disheartened over the looong time it takes to finish makeup items my motivation to see this through has strengthened because over the last few weeks I've actually hit pan on a few things.  It's like seeing that light at the end of the tunnel!  Here's the proof:

Now, after being a blushing freak in the early 1990's (ya know, wearing the contouring "stripes") I gave up using blush altogether for years because I preferred to look natural and low key.  Well, I realised there's nothing unnatural about looking healthy so it came back into my makeup routine just over a year ago.  Anyway, the point is I haven't finished off a blush pan in years and now - look! - I think my little essence blush is gonna be the first to go in a long time.  Exciting!

Well, look at this one!  After daily use my MAC Select Sheer pressed powder has really copped a beating!  This isn't surprising because I usually go through a few pans a year so this one is guaranteed.  I can't wait to finish this because I'll have enough empties to go Back 2 MAC for a free lipstick.  I've allowed myself this one indulgence during my makeup and lipstick ban so I'm looking forward to that.  The tough decision will be which lipstick to choose?

Now just for good measure here's an old Revlon eyeshadow palette (Tickled Pink) that's nearly half-way gone.  Because these are all soft and shimmery highlight shades I'm sure I'll finish this - although it's still a long way off.

Even if I wasn't doing P10P I still have a sense of satisfaction and achievement when I've loved makeup items all the way to the bottom of the pan.  Just wish I could do it faster than I accumulate them - now that would be an impossible challenge for me at least!

What have you hit pan on lately or what do you hit pan on regularly?  I'd love to know.

Until next time.

Vita :)

  1. Good job!!

I hit pan on a couple of eyeshadow by MAC and one palette (one colour) on my Sleek Storm palette.

I have hitten pan on my MSFN by MAC and a bronzer by MAC.

I have never finished a lipstick, I usually toss them out when I have it like 2 or 3 years but I did finish a couple of lipglosses :)

    1. Thanks Sandra :) Lipglosses are easier to finish than lipgloss as I've been finding lately too!

  2. I have never hit pan on anything :( I'm pretty sure it's because I'm so indecisive and have so many products that I keep interchanging. Trying to start a plan to get rid of all unnecessary stock!

    1. I've found because I'm trying to finish off products I'm reaching for the same favourites again and again. Very difficult if you've got a vast range of favourites to choose from though!

  4. Nice, congrats on hitting those! I am not sure I've ever hit a pan with anything, perhaps one eyeshadow from Artdeco, those are tiny and I probably had two eyeshadows in total back then, lol ;) But now I think I'm very close to hitting a pan on one pressed powder I use very often for over a year now, hoping to see the bottom soon.

    1. Ah well, guess it just means you've got a large range of products on rotation *wink*? Then again I know some products like eyeshadow can take an eternity to finish unless you're using them literally every day...

  7. Hitting pan has got to be one of the most best experiences in makeup ;)
Unfortunately I haven't done so in a while. Keep buying new things, and forgetting about the old :(

    1. I agree with you Margaret! I feel like I've got great value out of a product when I use enough of it to actually hit pan :)

  8. I love hitting pan, it makes me feel like it must have been money well spent. My no buy is now pretty much 2 months in... I'm itching to go shopping now though. Sadly I haven't finished much in the way of makeup yet but I think tomorrow will see the end of a foundation that I can't wait to be done with. I'm impressed with the blush by the way, I haven't ever hit pan on one! x
