Vintage Revlon polish: Hot Chilli

Hi Everyone!

If you blinked you probably missed it but I've had a mini break as I've been spending quality family time for the start of the school holidays - it's all about getting out and about, seeing the latest movies (The Amazing Spiderman) and just doing generally fun stuff so...blogging gets pushed a bit down the priority list.

Today's mani is an old Revlon shade and I can't even find much on the interwebs about it! Hot Chilli is not exactly the colour of hot chilli peppers to my eye but a much deeper, vampier red.  It really reminds me of dried blood with it's deep brown-red tone.  This old polish was perfection in its formula and just glided onto the nails.  If anyone knows anything about this old timeless vampy please let me know!

The gloomy sunless weather was perfect to capture the winter mood...

Vampy shades like these have been around forever it seems - Yay or nay?

Until next time - I'm actually working on my first ever guest post next and of course I'll tell you all about it!

Vita :)

  1. YAY! Definitely yay. I love shades like this! They are my absolute favorite. Although I think I lean toward dark blues, dark wines, rather than reds and true purples.

    1. Yes Larie - if I think about the dark colours I love these days they're more likely to be teals (I really love a good high shine dark teal) and blues but the old reds are never off the radar! xo

    1. Thanks so much Anni! There's definitely a contrast here - I feel a bit like Snow White with my pale wintery hands :) xo

  3. I ADORE vampy shades! I was swatching some nail colours at Sephora yesterday and found myself gravitating back to dark vampy shades in anticipation of fall/winter (even though it's only the beginning of summer here). I love this one on you! Some of my vampy shades are Chanel Rouge Noir and Essie Wicked.

    1. Rouge Noir - I remember it from the days of Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction! That's THE shade that started it all and you know what? I don't have it in my collection. Surely that's sacrilege! Glad you like the vampies too, xo

  5. Vampy is good, but not all the time, to me it's a fall/winter color. This one looks very nice on you!

    1. Thanks Maria :) Vampy's are perfect for my hands in winter. They give a good contrast whereas neons look downright weird on me this time of year...xo

  9. OMG Vita, this is an extraordinary shade-- it's the perfect vampy shade!!I agree with you, Liz-- I'm definitely gravitating to these vampy shades as well-- even for the lips-- though I realize it's not quite season appropriate. In fact I wore something similar to this on my lips yesterday when I went over to my sister's house-- and she asked me where I was going, and if I realized that it was the summer--LOL!

Your nails are even more gorgeous than the polish itself! xo

    1. Wow thanks for the lovely compliment Lola! I can't actually believe that Revlon would discontinue such a gorgeous shade but they did *sighs*... I know what you mean about loving vampy lips. I like another Revlon for that too - Wine With Everything. :) xo

    2. You are very welcome, Vita! I agree- it makes no sense that they would discontinue something this gorgeous! I'm going to have to look at Wine With Everything-- thanks for the suggestion! xo
