Hello again!
I've long been a lover of yellow and white gold but in recent times (and under the influence of current trends of course) I've been gravitating to rose gold, not just for jewellery but also in nail polish and makeup. This means I became a bit obsessed and went on a little rose gold binge - particularly when it came to nail polish with all the recent rose gold releases! As it happens I already had a few rose gold makeup items in my collection so I've expanded on my original idea of a rose gold themed nail polish post to share the lot here...
Swatched Left to Right:
Hot Mama!, Copper Chic, Velvet Lip Lift 44, Perfectly Polished
Nail colours
Swatched Left to Right:
Rose Gold layered over Pearl Brown, Pearl Brown alone, Rose Gold, Studio 54, Sprung
Do you prefer rose gold, yellow gold, white gold or do you love all three?
Until next time.

Cheeks & Eyes...
theBalm Hot Mama! shadow/blush - I've had this multi-task product hidden away for months and only just started using it. I haven't tried it on my eyes (I really should try that now that I've woken up to what the packaging was telling me!!) but I have done the blush thing. This warm and rosy, almost peach shade is shot with golden shimmer which did scare me a little in the pan but it effectively translates to a warm luminous glow on my cheeks - love!
Maybelline Eyestudio quad (70 Copper Chic) - This quad offers a rose gold shimmer shadow as a lid shade (second from left in the palette above). Depending on your colouring this application will either work for you or make you look a bit red-eyed and tired. With my pale translucent eyelids and light coloured eyes I'm in that latter category BUT I've still been able to make this colour work by using it as a transition shade in crease. I'm heaving a sigh of relief here because I really wanted this shade to work for me somehow!
...& Lips...
Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift (44) - More rose with a gold shimmer than actual rose gold. I received this opaque gloss as a free gift with a local weekly magazine. As you see in the swatch below this lip colour is super glossy but pigmented enough to wear alone.
Models Prefer Lip Gloss Pencil (Perfectly Polished) - I've worn this pencil a lot as you can see from the stubby looking thing above. It's a warmer, more coppery than my Velvet Lip Lift tube and the closest to a rose gold lip colour in my collection. I have a few of these MP pencils and love them for their easy application, as they glide onto my lips for opaque shiny colour.

Nail colours
The Face Shop (17 - Pearl Brown) - Up until a few months ago this was the only true rose gold polish in my collection. I've had it for quite a while too!
Sportsgirl Nail It! (Rose Gold) & Face of Australia (Studio 54) - These two Australian glitter polishes released over the past few months happen to be dupes and I don't know how I didn't figure that out until I swatched them. If you have one of these then you definitely don't need the other.
OPI (Sprung) - Deep rose gold, coppery foil released in Mariah Carey's collection. My favourite. The end.

Loved the post ..I love rose gold and sprung and the layered one , I love all three golds :)
ReplyDeleteI feel a little late jumping on the bandwagon but I really love rose gold at the moment :)
DeleteFor jewelry I prefer white or rose gold, but in cosmetics, all bets are off! I love rose gold a lot, though - especially on nails like that!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty crazy for rose gold on the nails - and it's been in a lot of recent launches too so I guess I felt like I had to have it!
DeleteYou had Hot Mama all this time??? It's a great blush. I have no desire to put it on the eyes but let us know how that works out!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love looking at rose gold polish but hate it on myself - I think it clashes with my yellowy skin tone. Great collection, Vita!
Aww thanks Liz :)
DeleteI got Hot Mama as part of a BOGO deal some time ago but hesitated to wear it - now I ask myself why I'd ever hesitate cos it's gorgeous on my skin and really livens up my face! I am surprised that it's for the eyes too and that probably WILL be a challenge to make work :p
I think I need Hot Mama in my life LOL!! It looks like an amped up NARS Orgasm to me!
ReplyDeleteI adore rose gold ANYTHING too. It's one of my faves in makeup and jewelry! Great post Vita!
I'm not sure how it compares to Orgasm but I do know it's super flattering! From one rose gold fan to another I thank you Tracy :)
DeletePretty! Sprung looks gorgeous, but I don't think it'd suit my colouring.
ReplyDeleteSprung is the most coppery of the lot. Actually I've worn it recently so expect a full hand swatch post on it soon :)
DeleteI almost never lay my eyes on rosé golds, but the OPI one is really pretty! I also have FOA's glitter but I'm not sure what to pair it with! :(
ReplyDeleteTry it over black for a classic combo or there's another soft almost rose gold shade in the OPI Mariah Carey collection you could try as a base: A Butterfly Moment.
DeleteI LOVE rose golds! I've got my eye on the Marc Jacobs rose gold watch. I think rose gold suits my skintone much better than the traditional yellow gold does, though I do have a soft spot for platinum. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have many of the same products! I only wish glitters weren't so hard to remove, I'd definitely use my glitter polishes more!
Rose gold makes for such a flattering nail shade. I'm watch shopping too at the moment!
DeleteI was a bit annoyed that the Sportsgirl polish and Face of Australia are literally identical! They're the EXACT same polish - no difference whatsoever. D'oh! I have one of those Maybelline quads (in Give Me Gold) but never use it - I really should give it a go one day! Sprung looks gorgeous :) theBalm Hot Mama reminds me a bit of Sleek Rose Gold.
ReplyDeleteHave you got both of the glitters too?
DeleteI think the different bottles had me fooled because I didn't realize they were exactly the same until I did the swatches!
You should try your Maybelline quad - I have three and they're quite soft and well pigmented :)
I love the Maybelline Copper Chic pallette, and I have few of the Models Prefer lip gloss pencils which are amazing; though I haven't tried this shade. My favourite rose gold find this winter has been Australis' Nail Colour in Rose Tattoo...worth checking out!
ReplyDeleteThe MP lip gloss pencils are great! Sounds like I need to check out Rose Tattoo too - the quest never ends, lol!
DeleteYay you're back :) And you got such nice goodies <3
ReplyDeleteThanks Ina!!
DeleteI hope to get my vacation pictures posted in the next few days :)
Hot Mama look good :-) I never really had a preferences in gold, but for nails, I'd go for rose gold! Those glitters look great, but I dread thinking about taking them off. LOL!
ReplyDeleteRose gold seems to be the clear favourite in gold manicures! I do love my glitters - but no, I don't enjoy the removal part much at all. Still, it doesn't seem to stop me from wearing them...
DeleteLovely, lovely colors.
ReplyDeleteThey're so gorgeous for winter or any time of year really!
DeleteRose Gold is so pretty, I have quite a few of those products myself come to think of it ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Great minds obviously...
