Hi everybody!!!
I'm finally back where I belong, and in front of my trusty keyboard! I have genuinely missed doing this.
The next few posts will be fillers while I get all my vacation pictures - including all the goodies hauled from Hong Kong and Singapore - organized and ready to share.
Okay let's start with a manicure featuring a polish from Revlon's newish Moon Candy nail art line. I had high hopes for this polish duo but it didn't really deliver. The Eclipse duo features a dark purple cream base shade and a blue-pink flakie topcoat to be applied as the topping for added bling and texture. I'd seen an advertorial where the flakie was only applied to the nail tips and gave an opaque, glittery coverage so I've attempted to replicate the effect here. What can I say? I tried. I applied two coats of flakie topcoat to the tips, got a rough, lumpy mess but nowhere near as opaque a glitter coverage as was in the ad pictures, which I cannot find ANYWHERE to give you the comparison. To smooth out the transition from base to tip I applied two coats of regular top coat. Oh well. Here are my results.

All pictures were taken in cloudy, wintry Melbourne conditions:
Have you tried Revlon's Moon Candy polish?
What was your experience?
Until next time.
It's good to "see" in front of the keyboard again - and with a lovely mani too!
ReplyDeleteAh thanks Maria! I'm glad to be back sharing with you :)
DeleteCant wait to see pics and read about your Hong Kong haul as I am going there in October. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat! I went a bit silly with my shopping so I hope you'll enjoy :)
DeleteI'm sure I will. I have no idea what sort of stuff is good to buy in HK so I can't wait to see what you got. :-)
DeleteOooh that is so pretty!!

DeleteThanks! Although it was a PITA to apply :p
DeleteOh wow this is so beautiful! I've never tried Revlon's nailpolishes.
ReplyDeleteRevlon is one of my favorite nail polish brands for their variety of colours and value for money :)
DeleteWelcome back! I've missed you!!!
ReplyDeleteI actually keep picking this up and putting it back. The colours were pretty, but I just wasn't convinced! And I have to say your experience with this isn't making me want to purchase it!
Does look pretty though, perhaps it's better when applied all over the nail.
Aww thank you! xo
DeleteI had thought about using the top coat over the entire nail and I'm sure it would provide a better result. I've got two more of these (gasp) so that's what I'll do next time :)
Yay! You're back! :)
ReplyDeleteRevlon is one brand that I think I don't like a lot of their products. I like their lipsticks but that's about it. It's a pretty looking mani! You can make anything work Vita!
I'm finally back!!!
DeleteI agree with you about Revlon. I really like their lipsticks and to a lesser degree their nail polish but that's about it. Their latest eyeshadow offerings have really underwhelmed me after I've swatched them :p
Shame about the flakie fail. :( Still a beautiful combo though!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Thank you! xo
DeleteAw the colours are so pretty, but I can definitely see where you've had trouble with them. I know the ad picture you are referring to and you are exactly right - looks nothing like it sadly!
ReplyDeleteThe glitter looks so much more opaque in the ad :(
DeleteThe colour combo really works, shame that the flakie is lumpy and not a winner! I had contemplated getting one of these but I have a few flakies that I'm happy playing around with so I left them be. I agree re: your comment about the Revlon eyeshadows, their latest cream palette is so meh it isn't even funny- not sure why their lip products are so good and their eye products so bad overall?
ReplyDeleteI know! - Revlon lost me when they brought out the 16 hour Colorstay Eye Quads. I find their application actually inferior to the old formula! I saw that cream palette you're talking about and it didn't tickle my fancy either. I was tempted by the lip colours but left those too because it was getting too close to my trip ;)
DeleteWelcome back, Vita! :D I only like one or two Revlon polishes and I don't like their lipsticks or anything else really, so I stay away a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks Larie!
DeleteI do find Revlon can be very hit and miss, although I do love a lot of their lip products!
I was intrigued by these duos but the glitters looked way too chunky. And I'm not a fan of Revlon nail polish to begin with, so it didn't bode well. Sad this didn't work out though the colour is pretty!
ReplyDeleteChunky IS the word, and LUMPY too!
