Tag: How much is your face worth?

No! That's not what I'm wearing today!!! LOL
 Untitled

There have been some interesting posts going around lately where bloggers have revealed how much their daily makeup actually costs.  It seemed like a fun idea so here's my post on the cost of my weekend daytime face:

Today I wore the basics for a natural daytime look:
  • Revlon eyeshadow quad (Tickled Pink - Limited edition) - $26AUD
  • YSL Touche Eclat (2) - $55AUD
  • MAC Powerpoint eye pencil (Bordeauxline) - $32AUD
  • Maybelline Lash Stilletto mascara (Black) - $19.50AUD
  • Bloom Lip Gloss (Sweet Pea) - $24AUD
Total cost:  $156.50!

That surprised me because somehow I was kidding myself it would be a lower figure.  I'll have to do a comparison with a weekday working look because I know that's gonna be really scary!  The real challenge now will be to come up with a budget makeup look and see how low I can go without sacrificing quality.

How much is your face worth?

Until next time.

Autumn ombre mani

I've had this idea in the back of my mind for a while now.  Today I finally had the time and opportunity to try and create an ombre manicure using the colours of the autumn leaves.  This mani uses a combination of Zoya and OPI polishes.  It probably looks more skittle than ombre but I still enjoyed the end result.

Now for lots of pictures of me clutching autumn leaves :)

From thumb to pinky the shades are:
Zoya - Richelle
OPI - Opus in Amber
OPI - Take the Stage
Zoya - Shivon
Zoya - Kalista

Thanks for looking at my little tribute to autumn!

Until next time.

Date night mani: OPI - An Affair in Red Square

It was my (lucky) 13th wedding anniversary last Monday so we booked the babysitter and went out for an upmarket dinner to celebrate!

I chose OPI's  An Affair in Red Square as my mani, both for the name and the sexy red colour.  This is a gorgeous velvety red shimmer that glows in the evening light.  However, my husband - very romantically - said it reminded him of a particular car paint colour.  Guess that means he liked it, right??

An Affair in Red Square was launched in OPI's Russian Collection back in 2007, famous for its Russian Navy shade and Midnight in Moscow. There are thousands of pictures of this shade out there but here are mine.  This was the last mani before my nails got the chop:

Just look at the glow in the evening light:

Until my next post.

My first blog award!

I was tagged with the Blog Mas Divertido award a few weeks ago by the lovely Vintage at http://vintagemakeup.blogspot.com/ .  A big Thank you for my first award!

Would you believe it means 'award for funniest blog'?  I couldn't help myself, I checked out the Spanish to English translation in Google Translate just to make sure!  I think I'd be better qualified for the 'award for mildlly amusing blog' but anyway...

Here it is!!  Ta - Dah!!

Here are the five bloggers I pass this award on to:

The Green Fairy at Polished Serenity
Leanne at thatleanne

They're all witty and entertaining in their own unique way - check them out!

Vintage MAC polish: Ice Tease

The weather's turned icy down here in Melbourne and we had one month's rainfall just last night!  That very nicely leads me into today's MAC polish post:  Ice Tease.

This colour is quite unique in my collection as it's a matte iridescent (or duochrome? or multichrome?) pearl with a green/pink flash depending on what angle the light hits it.

Here are LOTS of pictures taken at different angles to give you the idea - please excuse the nubbins, I had a pretty bad tear on my index fingernail so they all had to go :(

Bottle shots first - So it's pink in the bottle....

No, wait, it's green...

Hmm...

And on the nails - with flash:

In full sun...

And finally, in the shade...

It took three coats of colour to achieve this coverage.  So pretty!

That's all for now.

Vintage MAC polish: Alumina

As promised, here's the first of my vintage MAC mani's.

I chose Alumina as the first of these posts because this is the first MAC nail polish I ever bought - way back in 1996.  That's sooo long ago.  MAC wasn't available in Australia back then so I actually got this at Hudson's Bay Co. (aka the Bay) while on holiday in Canada!!

Alumina is a blue toned metallic silver, and even after all these years is still very thin in formula so required three coats for full coverage.  It's a little brush strokey but I can forgive that because it's such a cool colour:

With flash
Full sun

Here's proof of this bottle's age.  Check out the expiry date stamped on the bottle - December 1997!

Until my next post.
