Australis Nail Colour: Vampy

Happy hump day!  I'm happy because the busiest part of my working week's over - I hope!?

Today's mani is from Australian beauty brand Australis.  I've tried a few products from Australis but haven't tried their nail polish in years, nay, DECADES!!!  I bought Vampy quite a few months ago because I liked the subtle glittery look in the bottle.  A name like Vampy conjures up images of blood, or deep plum colours but Australis' Vampy is more of a raspberry-plum shade if that makes sense.  Now the glitter effect is very subtle too because the polish is quite opaque, so it was really difficult to photograph - It surprised me when I removed it to find the glitter was actually silver and not red as I'd thought!  The application was pretty tricky with this one - it was sort of gloopy and jelly-ish, and combining the strange formula with a soft brush made for an interesting time indeed!

What do you think of this subtle jelly glitter?  Too subtle?

Until next time.

  1. On the last photo it shows pretty good, but I think it's nice with subtle effects from time to time, especially depending on what kind of nail art you add to it!!

    1. Are you reading my mind Maria? I did do something to it but not in your league, haha!

  2. This looks like a muted version of that Canadian exclusive Deborah Lippmann shade, actually! I really like it!

    1. Glad you like it Larie :) Still don't have a Lippmann polish in my collection. One day I will - I want/need to tick that brand off my wishlist!

  3. I love a good jelly and a good red; this is quite pretty--- perhaps a more wearable rendition of Ruby slippers

    1. Thanks Dovey :) I guess this is like a 'sleeper' polish - you have to look up close to see the magic! I have a bottle of Ruby Slippers and this does remind of it just a little, albeit more subdued and wearable like you say.

  4. I like the subtle glitters, but if you didn't say, I would have totally thought they were red too!

    1. I like the subtle effect too - I'd forgotten to say I actually DO like the look of the polish even though it was difficult to apply!

  5. This is such a gorgeous shade on you! I bought my first two Australis polishes two weeks ago and must say I thought the same, the formula is a little hard to work with!

Bought the ever famous Mates Rates and I was so disappointed at how that holo green/gold shimmer just disappeared with two coats. :(

    1. That's a disappointment :^( I have a few more bottles of Australis so I'll have to see how they apply.

  6. I like it! A LOT! :)

I like that the flecks are subtle and the juicy colour looks fantastic against your skin tone. Win win.

    1. Thank you Liz! It was a bit of a bee-atch to apply but worth it in the end! :)

  7. I like it subtle too, but I don't like that you can only see the magic if you stare at your nails real up close :D

    1. If only it was just a tiny bit more blingy...
