Revlon Parfumerie: Wintermint

Now for another variation in the wonderful world of nail polish.  We've seen pastels, neons, metallics, multichromes, holos, glitter, matte, and many more different textures so let's progress onto sensory stimulation of a different kind. Moving on from sight and touch let's get onto smell...

Scented polish isn't a new thing and Revlon themselves have done this before but this time around they've made it more enticing and fresh with the new perfume style bottles and wide range of shades in their Parfumerie range.  I wasn't really taken in by the scent gimmick in itself but some of the colours appealed to me so during a recent sale I pounced on a few bottles to try.

Wintermint caught my eye first because it reminds me so much of Deborah Lippmann's Mermaid's Dream and not owning the Lippmann original I was keen to try this drugstore version.  The silvery blue-green polish needs two coats for opaque coverage and along with larger pieces of blue glitter it's filled with fine glitter so it dries down to a very gritty finish.  Once dry the gentle candy mint scent develops and I did enjoy it - I was surprised to still catch occasional subtle wafts of the scent over a few days actually! I didn't apply top coat and without it this polish did take a few hours to completely harden on my nails.

Let's hope they don't invent flavoured nail polish next! It wouldn't exactly help nail biters now would it!!!

Have you tried any of the Parfumerie polishes?

    1. Yes they are! I have an old rose scented nail polish by Anna Sui and the scent of that one is unbelievably strong!

  3. I'm not in love with the idea of scented polish - I wish these were unscented, because some of the shades are gorgeous, like this one!

    1. I know what you mean - the scented idea itself doesn't attract me. This one wasn't overpowering in any way though so I was headache-free :)

    1. The scent was pretty subtle so I wasn't too distracted by it! I haven't tried Poshe myself but I've heard good things about it :)

  6. I was thinking of the Deborah Lippman shade as well when I picked up Wintermint! It looks lovely on you! I'm not so fussed on the smell though, it smells like i've been touching chewing gum!

    1. Thank you Angie! It reminds me of those sugar-free mints or gum too I guess and I don't mind that :)

  7. It's pretty much the same as DL Mermaid. I have a winter shade that smells awful and don't know what to do with it. The bottles are pretty cute though!

    1. Does topcoat dull down the scent at all I wonder? I have another basil scented version so I might try it with some topcoat to see if that makes a difference.

    2. There's a basil scent??? I wouldn't want to tone that down! But no, I always wear top coat and Sally Hansen's fast dry did nothing to stifle Italian Leather's rancid stench.

    3. Italian Leather smelled like stinky old hide did it?? I'll definitely let you know how I fare with the basil. It's a very pretty green cream so I want to wear it just for the colour!

  8. I'm still unsure about scented nail polish, but like you the packaging and the shade range kind of had me with these. I don't mind the smell of Wintermint though!

    1. The packaging is so stylish! So far I liked this scent although apparently it might be a case of hit and miss with some of the others.

  9. I love the bottles and some of the colour range I've seen, also not keen on the scented idea but suppose I won't know how bad or good they smell till I try them out! This one is super pretty

    1. The scent of this one wasn't overpowering so let the colours guide you - I have seen from Liz's comment above that Italian Leather might be one to watch out for though!
