This is exactly how it happened: I bought a new sweater to wear out for dinner on my birthday. Only a few minutes after that, I happened to notice OPI's Color to Diner For when I walked past the stand, and happened to notice it was the exact match for that sweater. It was meant to be I figured (or justified) to myself! Besides, it was my birthday after all.
Color to Diner For is from OPI's Touring America collection released last year and I largely ignored the collection when it was released, only buying the khaki green creme Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window at the time. Anyway, coming back to the point I've realised this darker red polish is something I probably didn't have in my collection and I love the burnt red colour with its understated shimmer. I call it burnt red as that's the colour listed on the tag of my sweater and I think it's a really spot-on description. The polish was a little on the thin side on application and whilst I applied two coats I think three would have given it a little extra depth.
This is a classic red and a perfect match for the autumn wardrobe:
Full sun
Part sun
Shade
Until next time.
Vita :)
It's lovely, your sweater must be gorgeous too LOL
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Maria, my sweater is gorgeous and I loved wearing the two together :) xo
DeleteGorgeous red <3 I would dine the s*it out of that color :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ina, I can't figure out how I didn't notice this shade the first time around!!!
DeleteHappy birthday Vita! And no you're not the only one who buys a polish to match a jumper :-D I have quite a few of the touring america colours, I shall check this one out!
ReplyDeleteThanks again Leanne, I think I should have looked more closely at the Touring America collection when it released. It's always a bit difficult to relate to the colours when the seasons are opposite to ours. I'm sure this released for our Spring - just when I was itching to wear the brighter stuff :-/
DeleteHappy birthday! :) I always have good excuse to buy nail polish, and yes, matching it to my outfit was a used quite often as an excuse ;)
ReplyDeleteThankyou :) I'm glad to hear you like the matching excuse! xo
DeleteI'm sure you're not the only one who buys new nail polish to match, but I'm more of a shoes girl myself. I tend to buy shoes to match! :)
ReplyDeleteI love reds on you Vita!
Aww, thank you! Red's a great cheer up shade when it gets cold so I'm sure it will be coming out regularly again :)
DeleteSounds like a grand time. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally buy polishes to coordinate with outfits. It's gotta look smashing head to toe!
A girl's just gotta have her look down, right??? I'm a bit obsessed with colour combining (as you know)!
DeleteLovely colour Vita! It reminds me of a very rich plump tomato.
ReplyDeleteYour sweater must have been equally as pretty as this then!
Thanks Margaret! I'm loving all the plum and berry red shades out there at the moment :)
